SALATA has received exceptional free zone, tax free status
by Ras Al Khaima Investment Authority (RAKIA) given the Government's
desire to host the first cutting edge agricultural facility
in the region. Established as SALATA FZCO in April, 2008,
SALATA will grow to 3 ha in RAK before growing its regional
footprint across the GCC region. SALATA has taken over the
existing Al Jazeera Farms in RAK growing tomatoes, capsicum,
herbs, coriander, bail, mint, parsley, and sweet corn.
Our Products:
At SALATA, we grow different types of lettuce in our hydroponics
facility, including:
- Iceberg lettuce, is a variety of crisphead lettuce which
is widely consumed across the world. It is characterized
by tightly furled, crunchy leaves and a mild, sometimes
watery flavor. There are many uses for iceberg lettuce,
including salads, some ethnic cuisine, and garnishes.
- Butterhead lettuce has a looser head, with soft leaves
and a creamy, slightly buttery texture. This lettuce is
less shelf-stable than crisphead lettuce, and it comes in
a range of cultivars.
- Romaine lettuce forms a tight head with elongated, crisp
leaves and is one of the most nutritionally rich types of
lettuce.
- Looseleaf lettuce is a tender, mildly flavored cultivar
which forms very loose heads
- Chinese lettuce has long, often spear shaped leaves which
do not form heads.
- Summer crisp lettuce is a mixture of crisphead and butterhead.
